Shoran Jiang was born and brought up in China. After graduating with an MA in Fine Art from Nankai University, she completed another MA at Chelsea College of Arts, University of Arts London, graduating in 2009.
Shoran, who is also an author has written: ‘The Best of Famous Paintings’, ‘Dunhuang: Dream Pavilion-Flying Apsaras’ and ‘Learn Art from Masters’, which will be published this year.
Shoran’s 2018 solo show ‘Food Object ' was held in 798 arts district in Beijing. As a master of calligraphy, she collaborated with choreographer Si Rawlinson, creating and performing ‘RethINKING Tradition’, a Public Participation Project staged at the Southbank Centre, London also in 2018.
She has run calligraphy workshops at the Southbank Centre and Chinese painting workshops at China Exchange, Bloomsbury Gallery and other venues in London. She writes a column ‘Children's Art and Drawing’ published in print and on a WeChat media platform, where she also lectures about art education.
Since 2009 Shoran has participated in a range of exhibitions at venues including Tate Liverpool，Bloomsbury Art Fair, London House, Graphic Playground, Dragons in the Lion’s Den and20/21 London International Art Fair, at the Royal College of Art, London, Fat Art 2010, Beijing, London Vox, Red Gate Gallery, Cheers:) 2009 Exhibition, OXO Tower, London, Asian Cainozoic (Group Show), Brick Lane Gallery & Going Postal, ICA, London.
